This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper. T.S. Eliot
Although the world is not ending, 2023 is certainly going out with a whimper for many of us. We have endured sickness, financial hardships, acts of violence, military deployments, divorces, and the end of 2023 has seen war and conflict occur around the world in places such as Ukraine, Nigeria, Syria, and Armenia.
#Gaza has been heavy on the minds of many of us and the wailing of those that have lost loved ones has turned to whispers on the world stage. We have, sadly, become accustomed to seeing family members weeping and holding loved ones that were killed and so it is now time to “move on.” Despite starvation, no where to hide from attacks, homelessness, and disease spreading we now have “more important” things to worry about. Artificial intelligence is upon us. 2024 is an American election year. Many people in the Western world are focused on New Year’s plans and resolutions.
While we make resolutions to lose weight, get up earlier, and read more books instead of staring at Instagram hotties let us remember what is important. Faith, family, and love. If we are fortunate enough to be here in five years, what do we want our world to look like? More kind? Well adjusted children? Less war? Less sickness? Happy relationships? How we look in five years will not matter as much as what we are in five years. We should act and think accordingly. Love to all. ❤️S
